Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Brock Cemetery in Greenfield with burial to immediately follow. Family and friends may gather at the cemetery at 10:45 AM. Ms. Brock was born July 2, 1957 in Molus, KY to the late Claude and Goldie Blanton Brock. She was a homemaker and Pentecostal by faith. She is survived by children; Chris (Melissa) Biggers of Martin, TN, Amanda (Dickie) Garrigus of Dresden, Kelly (Rodney) Frazier of Humboldt, TN and Meredith (Charles) Beane of Murray, KY, brothers; Robert (Sherry) Brock of Dresden and Vincent Brock of Hornbeak, TN, sisters; Alice Hurst of Greenfield, TN, Shirley (Jeff) Fee of Newark, OH, Rosemary Brock of Jackson, TN, Sandra (Dale) Davidson of McKenzie, TN, Lora Jane (Jerry) Stockdale of Hornbeak, TN and three grandchildren. Q. and Annie Harris Adams. He worked in the construction of the M.T.D. facilities and later retired as a forklift operator at M.T.D. He was also a former member of the Tennessee Army National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Dale Adams, William Oren Adams, and John Harris Adams. He is survived by two daughters, Tracye Romeo of Castle Rock, CO and Denise Moore of Lompoc, CA; 3 grandchildren; a brother, Howard Adams of California; a sister, Geneva Poynter of Chicago, Il; and several nieces and nephews.

Cynthia June Zickel, 52, of Dresden, TN, formerly of Maquoketa, IA died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 surrounded by loved ones in her home, after a courageous fight with lung cancer. In keeping with Cindy’s wishes, burial services will be private. Ms. Zickel was born April 3, 1962 in Park Ridge, IL to the late Clinton and Nancy Blassingame Mullins. Cynthia attended Lake View High School in Chicago, IL. She married Larry Zickel in 1986. She was the President of a bubble wand company, Nuboz, Inc. and proudly obtained her G.E.D. from the Clinton Community College in Iowa in 2008. She enjoyed many years as a stay-at-home mom and grandmother, and previously worked as a secretary and waitress. She was a devoted mother and friend, who brightened the life of all those she met with her enormous heart and free-spirited soul. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Kirkland Cancer Center, Hospice of West Tennessee, and dear friend Brenda Schrader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Mullins. Ms. Zickel is survived by three daughters, Michelle Zickel of Sterling, MA, Jacquelyn Zickel of Dresden, TN, and Katlin Zickel of Chicago, IL; a grandson, Christopher Zickel of Dresden, TN; a sister, Brenda Wagner of Maquoketa, IA; and a half-brother Shane Zey of Monroe, WA. Joe is survived by his wife, Martha Lynn Crocker Bates of Martin, son; Steve (Amy) Bates of Martin, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Bates and sisters Bertie Mathis and Doris McCartney.

He is also survived by one brother; James “Jimmy” Gurley of IN, and one sister; Martha Gurley Harris of Mayfield, KY. 3 stepsons; James, Michael, and David Hammonds all of Dresden; and several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Jerry was the first person in Tennessee to join the Peace Corps and was stationed in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico. He was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jackson, TN. Jerry is survived by his sister, Sheila H. (Kelley) Swearingen of Dresden, TN; a brother, Rev. John A. (Robbie) Holt of Memphis, TN; two nieces, Michelle (Paul) Horton of McKenzie, TN and Shelley H. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Military Police during the Korean War. After serving his country, he was a contractor all his life before retiring. He loved the outdoors, dogs and hunting. Mr. Whitton is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol Madison Whitton, of Palmersville, TN, son, Richard (Crystal) Whitton of Marion, IL and daughter, Lorna (Bill) Wilkey of Naperville, IL, two granddaughters, Mikala Whitton of Marion, IL and Bree Wilkey of Naperville, IL.
